The Lebanese Red Cross reports that a massive explosion in the Lebanese capital Beirut caused massive damage and injured hundreds of people.

It is said that hospitals are overwhelmed, and that many buildings have been demolished.
Lebanon ‘s head of internal security said the explosion occurred in an area that housed highly explosive materials.
A latest auto 20 reporter at the scene said of the body and serious damage enough to decommission the port. Reuters reported, citing sources, that 10 bodies have been found in the wreck.
The explosion took place at a sensitive time for Lebanon, and an unprecedented economic crisis brought to light old disagreements. Tensions are also high ahead of Friday’s verdict on the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri in 2005.
